Glass and window cleaning in Wuppertal
Streak-free is not a question of the product but of the water. And the price is decided by access, not by area.
Window cleaning is counted in window units, not square metres — and the largest item is rarely the glass but the way to reach it. Inside we clean on every floor; outside, everything reachable from the ground, with a telescopic pole up to about eight metres. For glass façades above that we are not the right contractor — and we would rather say so now than after the order is placed.

What decides the price
Three questions, and none of them is “how many square metres”:
Access
A window you can reach from the ground costs a fraction of the same window on the third floor — and above a certain height we do not clean the outside at all. That is why we ask about the building first.
What counts as the window
The pane only, or the frames and rebates too? The rebate is the work — and it is the part an unusually cheap quote leaves out.
How often
Offices and practices two to four times a year. Shops and restaurants with display windows considerably more often — there the pane is part of the display.
Streaks come from limescale, not from wiping
Tap water leaves behind exactly what was dissolved in it, which is why streaks appear even after careful work. We use demineralised water: it dries without residue, without squeegeeing and without chemicals. That is not only about the result. Because it allows work from the ground at heights that used to need a ladder, the ladders go — and with them the most common cause of accidents in this trade. And no cleaning product runs down the façade into the border below.

Window surfaces inside and out
Both sides where accessible. Glass cleaned on one side looks unwashed from the other.
Frames, rebates and seals
The part that is actual work. Named explicitly so nothing is missing later.
Glass partitions and interior glazing
Meeting rooms, reception areas, draught lobbies. Interior glass shows fingerprints faster than any external window.
Shop windows and entrance doors
A frequent schedule for shops and restaurants — the surface that collects the most fingerprints.
Shutters, grilles and blinds
Cleaned with them on request. A clean window behind a dirty shutter does not look clean.
Special cases
Label and silicone residue after construction, limescale film on shower glass, coatings by arrangement.
What we do differently
Two window quotes almost always look the same. The difference is in what is not written on them.
A price per window unit
And a statement of what a unit is. A per-square-metre price for glass says nothing unless access is stated next to it — and that is exactly where the differences disappear.
Inside every floor, outside up to eight metres
A clear boundary, stated before the quote. Beyond it you need a powered lift and fall protection — there are specialists for that, and we will gladly name one.
Demineralised water instead of chemicals
No residue — and no cleaning product running down the façade into the border below.
Dates that suit the weather
We do not work in frost or strong wind. Not for comfort: freezing water leaves smears, and a six-metre pole becomes a problem in wind. We move the date — and tell you beforehand.
What to look for in a quote
Should be in there
- A price per window unit, saying what a unit is
- Frames and rebates named explicitly
- Access equipment either included or explicitly excluded
- A schedule that suits the building — not one for everybody
Should raise an eyebrow
- A per-square-metre price with nothing said about access
- “Window cleaning” with no statement about whether frames are included
- A price reached without counting the windows on site
- A contractor offering a tall façade with no access equipment — that means ladder work. It breaches accident-prevention rules, and if something happens the question of responsibility reaches the client too
Common questions
How often should windows be cleaned?
Offices and practices two to four times a year. Shops, restaurants and car dealerships considerably more often, frequently monthly. If the building sits on a busy road the interval can be shorter than the eye suggests — road dust settles faster than rain carries it away.
What happens in bad weather?
Rain alone is no obstacle. Clean glass does not get dirty from rain — that is a stubborn misconception; it gets dirty from the dust the rain washes down off the façade. Frost and strong wind are another matter: then we move the date and let you know.
Are the frames cleaned too?
With us, yes, and it is stated explicitly in the quote. It is the most common difference between two quotes that look identical at first glance — and the reason one of them is 30 % cheaper.
Do you need water and power from the building?
No, we bring demineralised water. If there is a supply on site we are glad to use it — provided that is settled beforehand and not discovered on the day.
